New EU GDPR is coming – all you need to know!
A few weeks ago we reported in our blog about the new general EU data protection regulation (EU GDPR) and its effects. You are welcome to read through this article to find out more. On Friday, 25 May 2018, the time has come and it will enter into force. In this article we will explain what we are doing to ensure that you can use our platform and your apps in compliance with the EU GDPR.
Who is affected by the EU GDPR?
The new regulation targets all those who collect, process and store personal data. Users of your apps and web apps also leave personal data in the apps. Therefore, the EU GDPR is also relevant for you.
How does the EU GDPR affect me? What is EU GDPR relevant in the AppYourself apps?
Data is collected and processed at various points. We distinguish between data that is stored and processed on our platform and data that is processed by third parties.
Cookies and third party systems
Cookies are also used in our web apps and the website. For example, we use Google Analytics for the statistics. In the coming week we will implement IP anonymization in all our systems. In addition, our web apps and websites receive a cookie notice. The possibility to deactivate Google Analytics (Cookie-opt-out) has existed with us for a very long time.
In addition, data representing essential basic functions of the app, such as the user profile, the chat, the form modules and other functions, are recorded in the apps. The data collected is processed on our server in Germany and on Google servers in the USA.
Adaptation at AppYourself in terms of data protection
It is our concern to protect the data of the users of your customer apps and to implement the requirements of a user-friendly data protection in the best possible way. There will be further changes in the coming days, some of which we will explicitly inform you about again:
Use of Google Analytics and anonymization of the IP address
As mentioned above, we implement IP anonymization in all our systems.
The right to oblivion
Users in our apps can already request the deletion of all their data stored with us. We will simplify this even further in the future and offer a one-click solution.
We will add to this list in the next few days if necessary.
Further questions on the topic
Question: Is location data collected?
Location information is used, e.g. in the Around-Me function of our catalogue modules. However, the user’s location information is not stored.
Question: Do you offer a data processing agreement?
On request we offer an agreement on order data processing. Please contact us at email@example.com stating your complete details. We will then send you a data processing agreement with TOM (technical and organisational measures) and a list of subcontractors.
