Guidelines of both App Stores
All apps will be reviewed by the stores after submission. To avoid delays and to avoid objections from Apple or Google, apps should be completed before submission and comply with store guidelines.
The review guidelines of the App Stores are very extensive. We ensure that the apps are state-of-the-art in terms of technology and design. However, problems may occur, especially on the part of Apple. Although Apple has relaxed its 4.2.6 policy for modular apps, apps may still be rejected if they do not meet the requirements. Have a look at our Club blog post. We also reserve the right to reject apps before submission if they do not comply with the guidelines.
Here are some tips on what you or your customers should be aware of with regard to the content of the app:
Empty modules or test modules
Please make sure that all modules of the app are filled with content and have no placeholders. Apps with empty modules or with test content (like Lorem ipsum…) are rejected by the App Stores.
Invalid Links
All links you add to your app must be correct and work.
Content integrated via iframe
All websites that you integrate via iframe should be optimized for mobile devices. If the integrated site requires a login, you must provide us with a demo account with user name and password, which we will forward to the App Stores.
Contests / Sweepstakes
If you inform about a competition in your app, some information must be added. The official rules must be visible and it must be pointed out that the App Store is not participating in or sponsoring the competition.
General App Quality
If the app has no recognisable usefulness as an app, it can be rejected, e.g. if the app only consists of a website integrated into the app. The app should have enough content (at least 3-4 modules) and encourage interaction with the users.
Competitor Logos or Names
Do not mention words such as Apple, iOS, Android or Google in your app and do not use their logos (this also applies to linked web content). The App Stores do not allow the mention of the competitor in the apps.
Copyright / Impersonation
The main reason for an app denial on Google is a suspicion that the app violates identity theft and intellectual property guidelines, see this entry.
